A Vapour Control Layer, (VCL), is a plastic layer which is installed to restrict the movement of warm, moist air from inside a property getting into the fabric of the building. This reduces the risk of harmful interstitial condensation by ensuring that any moisture within the cavity is kept to a manageable level.
Interstitial condensation is condensation which occurs between layers of the construction, for example inside the roof, wall or floor.
